lately...

This morning before work, I was putting a band-aid on a cut and needing some kind of encouraging words to get me through the day. I look up and this is the message I see. I had to take a picture. I felt better after seeing it. Isn't it funny, that when we really really feel like giving up, there always just happens to be a sign waiting for us. We just have to stop and look.

three little things :: thursday

1. Mittens Baby is fascinated with watching me make up the bed. She will try to duck under the bed covers as I whip them up. Other fascinations of hers: watching people soak in the tub.

2. After saying something to her, she will blink once very slowly. Does this mean yes, or simply stop blabbering at me?

3. This by the way, is her favorite place to sleep at night; however if J wakes up, he demands she sleep towards the bottom of the bed.

three little things :: thursday

At his birthday party...

...swinging through the trees...

...and on his birthday, the following day.

Three birthday wishes for him, on his tenth year around the sun:

1. That he may always know how much he is loved.

2. That the world may always treat him with the kindness, that he so readily gives to others.

3. That he may go through his life always, with wonderment in his eyes.

three little things :: thursday

Three little things I am loving about him today:

1. When listening to Elvis, we can now only listen to "That's All Right, Mama". He knows the lyrics and sings along with an Elvis accent; my favorite line and how it sounds: ...well, that's all right-a, mama...

2. The way he rubs my neck as he falls asleep at night (or whenever he needs a bit of soothing).

3. When he emptied his wee pocket today, I received: spruce cones and rocks.

ck

Four little sayings I am hearing and enjoying right now (apparently just about everything can end in ck):

darnick (darn it)

mimick (as in, just a minute)

alrighck (alright)

buck (butt)

three little things

Three almost identical expressions,
from almost three years ago.
Grumpiness, loveliness, and silliness.

five little things

Five little things I love about you.

The way you start every morning, as if it were the first day to ever be, and thus making it so for everyone around you as well.

Your sensitivity towards all, even the most seemingly unnoticeable.

The way you gallop on all fours.

Your incredible ability to forgive.

The way you can be extremely happy, just by blowing bubbles.

Thank you Eoghan.

five little things

mama
bebee-baby
peas-please (as he rubs his heart)
heyo-hello
bubbow-bubble

Five little things.
All of Jonas's non sign language vocabulary.
They sound so sweet, as they twist from his wee rippled lips.

the little things

I awoke in the middle of the night to feed Jonas and I had a ball of sadness in my stomach, with the feeling that another year has sneaked past us yet again. And so, I began to search my mind for the significant events that have happened, during this time that has gone by. Nothing huge popped into my head, however many small images began to tumble forward.

5 little things Jonas loved last year:
Splashing in puddles, "fixing" any mechanical object especially the vacuum, long bubble baths, eating freshly fallen snow, and having people smell his feet and then pretend to throw up.

5 little things Eoghan loved last year:
Playing in water, being a dinosaur, having friends over to play, getting to walk to places on his own, and amusement park rides.

5 little things about my boys, that I was so fortunate to enjoy last year:
Burying my face in fuzzy baby hair first thing in the morning, listening to all the different wee voices Eoghan makes for his toy animals and people (when he thinks I'm not listening), smiles with teeth coming in and teeth falling out, being able to sing Eoghan to sleep, and nursing Jonas while looking at his sweet contented face.

It's all about the little things isn't it?

Happy New Year!

¡Prospero Año Nuevo!

5 things I love:

Open mouthed baby kisses, with their smell of milk breath;
the look of children’s fuzzy hair in the morning, smelling it is even better;
smiles that are missing teeth;
chubby knees with dimples;
and the following watercolor made today by Eoghan, its title being “love”.
