rumbling and crackling

The bear is as close as it looks. I took the picture from an open car window, I was not about to even step out of the car.

The same bear, it was fishing; we loved watching.

My boys watching for calving, there was some great chunks that came off for us. There is a short video below; a regular sized chunk calving and the wave coming in to the shore from it.

I just love bears , but I get so paranoid when I am hiking in their territory. Have you ever come across them on your hikes?

Hi Heidi,
I'm really sorry to hear that you have not been well. Yes, it is awful when we can't get out to do the things we love. I feel that it is good and bad that we can really appreciate having our health only when we are ill. I am still inside and not feeling well. I hope you are better soon and congratulations about your new baby!
About the bears...in the back of my mind I am always thinking of them when we are hiking, because they are a bit scary to me. I know they are there as signs are always present: scat, hair, scratched up trees, etc.; but I think they are afraid of us as well. I have yet to encounter one on a hike, however we have encountered them in town. I think you encounter a bear every season, I think that's quite wonderful! ( remember I'm from a country who thinks they look cuddly)
