30 Days of Happiness: Day 17

We had a happy, sudsy time making felted soap with cousins. I had wanted to learn for a while now, and luckily this week a crafty cousin showed us how. J had fun just soaking his hands in the bubbles until they were quite pruny, pruny.

I think they will be grand, and will save the soap from being smooshed to pieces, as this is one of E.'s favorite activities. Much to our (un)delight.

That looks like so much fun! How does one make felted soap? It seems like a great craft we can connect to science when we're studying molecules. Or maybe a great craft to make for friends for the upcoming holidays. Would love it if you could point me in the right direction sis...muchas gracias!!! **Love to you all!**

Hi, so sorry for late reply, I have not been well.

So, all you need is a small cake of soap (round is better), wool roving, and water as warm as your hands are comfortable.

1. In your sink, or in a small basin add very warm water.
2. Wrap your wool roving around the cake of soap as smoothly as you can.
3. Gently wet the soap, so that the wool adheres to it all around.
4. Gently rub the wooly soap, so that lather may form all around it (wetting as necessary).
5. Continue rubbing the wooly soap until it is smooth, and the wool coverage and the thickness is consistent all over.
6. Continue rubbing until the foam is almost all gone, and set on a towel to dry.
7. Once dry, you may add a design on your soap using a bit more roving.

I hope you have fun!
