Siskins

For over a week now there has been a very large number of birds gathering in my mother's and father's front yard. My mom says, that everyone who passes by becomes intrigued by them. We were pretty sure that they were sparrows, today however when I arrived for a visit we discovered that they are actually called, Pine Siskins. We looked them up in a really amazing book called, "Bird Songs" by Les Beletsky. They have a very sweet little song, and if you sit or stand very still next to where they are feeding, they will approach.
