late, late, late, last night

Fireworks outside, some much louder than others. The police did a drive-by, with a smiling warning glance, and a wave. Sorry neighborhood.

The annual New Year's dance party (with glow sticks of course). We didn't carry on as late as in past years, but late enough.

to find a tree

Last year we couldn't even think of going out for a tree, as the weather was incredibly bad, and we were just settling in to our new home. The snow was unimaginable for our location. We had to take out our fake tree, which I loath. But this year... a real tree! So beautiful, and it smells so good, plus the fun of going to pick one out. It was so cold out, but lovely.

The Nutcracker, part I

The boys were able to see The Nutcracker for the first time, before their own upcoming performance in the ballet. I loved being able to look into the orchestra, and to see how the dancers performed to even the smallest chime that came from the triangle.
