rumbling and crackling

The bear is as close as it looks. I took the picture from an open car window, I was not about to even step out of the car.

The same bear, it was fishing; we loved watching.

My boys watching for calving, there was some great chunks that came off for us. There is a short video below; a regular sized chunk calving and the wave coming in to the shore from it.

our summer so far...

I have been ill with pneumonia this past week, and I feel miserable. Miserable not only because I don't feel well, but because it is gorgeous outside and I am stuck indoors thinking of everything I want to be doing. I want to go and pick berries for jam, I want to go for walks with my boys, I want to go on picnics, I want to go and spend time with friends knitting, I want to weed and clean my garden, I want to feel the sun and the warm breeze on my face (I know we only have weeks left here, and it may be rainy and cold tomorrow). Ugghh!

Alright, we have had fun though...

We have been...

...watching the flowers grow.
Much else has been happening, and so we have just really slowed down. We have been keeping away from screens, and appreciating what we have as we take in everything that is going on around us.

One of my favorite wildflowers, Lupine, they are blooming here and will not stay long. Their rich purple color line the roads, and just make me smile.

Screen-Free Week is April 18-24, read more here:

So there will be no movie nights or computer screen viewing for us. Join us, in pledging to do the same!

What we are reading this week (Thanks to our Public Library. Aren't librarians wonderful?), as we think of Earth Day on the 22nd:

three little things :: thursday

1. Mittens Baby is fascinated with watching me make up the bed. She will try to duck under the bed covers as I whip them up. Other fascinations of hers: watching people soak in the tub.

2. After saying something to her, she will blink once very slowly. Does this mean yes, or simply stop blabbering at me?

3. This by the way, is her favorite place to sleep at night; however if J wakes up, he demands she sleep towards the bottom of the bed.

Yesterday: E.'s pics

Do you see the eagle in the photo?

I asked Eoghan what he was seeing in the picture,

"Oh," he said, "it was an eagle, but it was too fast to catch."
